Estate Sale Rejects
I have been to an estate sale on 17th street 3 times since yesterday. I brought home a crystal bowl, very vintage package of Christmas paper, and a 1950 issue of ARTnews. The sale was in a fascinating old home, tudor style, two-story, no air conditioning, ancient wall paper, and ceilings stained by water leaks. A perfectly intriguing setting for a great estate sale. Well, I have been back twice looking at African trade beads, trying to decide if I wanted to make a purchase. They are asking 48.00 for a zip lock bag of the beads. The beads do appear to be authentic and are threaded onto some kind of straw like cord. I took Grandma and gdtr Lyssa (age 4) this afternoon. We were told to not let L touch anything and that they did not want children there. I DO understand and yet it just seemed so rude. Perhaps because she added that we probably couldn't afford to pay for anything that happened to be broken. Hello! Was that a put down or what? Reminded me a bit of the time I was called a redneck, but that is another story. We started leaving and about that time a lady, who was no child, dropped something that clattered to the floor. Hmmm...maybe no adults should be allowed either.
