Art Unraveled 2006

I'm SO glad to be home and dear hubby has been busy! We now have an awesome antique desk and chair in our master bedroom with a new printer/scanner. And he built shelves in our front closet!

But oh my gosh - Art Unraveled 2006 was incredible and such a high for me. I made some super new friends. First, there is Laura and Angelica from CA. These two invited me to join them for dinner on Thursday evening and over the following few days we became such good friends. I hope we can stay in touch long-distance. Laura is my gorgeous red-haired friend who might (or might not) be old enough for a senior discount and who has such talent and passion for art. Angelique is a thirty something with sparkling dark eyes and long blonde hair whose art has that definite girly girl diva flair. I'll never forget your little altered hot wheel, Sparkle! Fabulous dahling.

I was so happy to get to meet EJ in person after corresponding with her prior to the conference. We had one class together and got to have a nice lunch visit on Saturday. I also met a lovely, lively and colorful young friend from Montreal - Cynthia. I hope I will hear from her but regret I did not get her last name. On the way to the airport I met and visited with Carol and Janice from Austin and wish I'd met them earlier in the week. But we are all planning to attend in 2007 and look forward to visiting more then.

My teachers were Juliana Coles for Art of Repetition, John Whipple for Art to Share, and Michael Demeng for Contemporary Ex Votos. I learned something in all but I'm very glad that Ex Votos was my final class. I walked away feeling creative and successful. And that was not the case after my Art to Share class. I also enjoyed meeting instructors Gale R. and Kelly K and hope to take their classes someday.

I can't convey how much fun it was to alter and race a hot wheels car. Thanks to EJ for sharing with me - the simple blue hot wheels race car out of her bag of "stuff" was the base of my Moon Baby Holy Roller. Moon Baby included two old clip earrings, one long heavy screw, a chess piece (knight I think), and a polymer clay Moon face that I had created at home before coming to the conference. I'll definitely figure out someway to display Moon Baby here at the house.

More tidbits later on this topic I'm sure!
