Ron White Sweat Fest

Ron White, a.k.a. Tater Salad, appeared in Lubbock on Thursday night. We bought our tickets a month ago and I was so excited to get to see him perform that we arrived at Municipal Auditorium two nights early. No kidding. I didn't look at the tickets carefully so Tuesday night we got dressed, ready and headed over to the auditorium only to find the parking lot empty. Hubby looked at the tickets and the show wasn't till Thursday. So what could we do? We went to Walmart.

Thursday night we arrived with bells on along with over 1500 other West Texas folks. The show started late...at 8:00 with an entertaining opening act. So Ron came on stage at about 8:15. By then I was sweating. It was so hot in there. Ron miscalculated his words or punchlines a few times but he was wonderful. I loved his real estate routine that advised the US to sell Florida to Israel and then buy/flip Mexico. He turned one flop of a line into a winner by using it repeatedly during the rest of the show. Heck, if all else fails he can just make that face.

The down side of the evening had nothing to do with Ron. The auditorium seats are narrow (or is it just me?) and uncomfortable. The air conditioning either was not working or just not sufficient to cool the place with that many bodies inside. It was miserable, sauna-like. At about 9:00 I got hubby to help me take off my denim blouse which I had on over a white tank top. I don't usually sweat much for a fat girl, but Thursday night was an exception.

If you are mature enough to hear the F word about 15 times in 90 minutes (okay I may have lost count), enjoy graphic sexual humor, and want to lose yourself in laughter then please go see Ron White when you have a chance.

Dang retirees have all the fun, dressing up for WalMart and seeing Ron White.
I've been to two events in Lub-Rock Muni, Steve Martin, and Oh, Calcutta!, both in the Seventies. Good times.
Mary your blog is as sweet and uplifting as you have always been to those of us who have the pleasure of knowing you.
My own writing is much darker and tortured. It is mostly for catharsis, and not for publication.
    Keep up the good work.

What a nice surprise R! I'm glad you checked in and read a bit. I have written some dark...but stop just short of tortured. Hugs!
