Celebrations - August '06
Cindy completed all her clinical hours and finalized her contract with the practice where she will work as a Nurse Practitioner. She has worked hard for years to get here and will be paid well and...halelujah. Any parents of grown kids know what I mean. It is just nice to get to a point where you know your children can fend for themselves.
Speaking of which, Jon graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy, South Plains College earlier this month and we are so proud of him. He excelled in all aspects of the class and received honorable mention for academics. One by one, each graduate got up and said a few words. It was so moving because many of them were emotional about having completed the academy and about the closeness of their group. Then our young man walked up to the podium. He had a little smirk on his face and started out with "Good Evening", which was nice comic relief. You could tell that he was admired by his instructors and his classmates.
Jon called J&I yesterday with exciting news. He had a call from an officer at the police dept in the metroplex that he is hoping to go to work for. They loved his "packet" and want him. Background check is all that is left...there should be no problem but I can't count my chickens quite yet. If all goes as expected he will be notified in a month or so. He will need to attend their academy which starts in January but they will want him to come on and start work as soon as he can. Woohoo!
Carol - My dear d-n-l has completed 2 years of a grueling job at the hospital. She is on a very tough floor/unit and has been working nights which was not a good shift for her. But she was in for a two year commitment and she persevered and worked so hard, gutted up and brought home the bacon for all those months. She proved she has fortitude plus! I'm so glad she has given notice and is working her last few shifts. I pray that her next job will give her a lot of joy.
Joshua - This amazing nephew turned 18 years old earlier this month. He should still be a little 4 year old, in Ruidoso, running to the trailer, asking for more "quahters for the games". I can't say enough about how much I admire him. For his humor, caring, gentleness, smile, laugh, love and did I mention his humor? Joshua...if you read this...I wish you all the happiness in the world.
Roger - My equally amazing s-n-l just turned 30. Rog is so super...a good husband and Dad above all. He works with J now and is so intelligent and hard-working. I care for Rog as if he were my own. I wish him 'balance' in his life and much happiness.
