To All The Cars I Loved Before...
1960 Chevrolet Impala - my first car.
This was in the flower power era - Fall of 1966. I went downtown, bought flower decals and stuck one on each front door. Dad had a fit and I had to peel them off. It was the generation gap thing.
Silver 1970 Chevelle- Hubby's car when we first met and started dating. It was our dating car, our leaving the church car, our young married's car. We both wish we still had this one and have checked out some vintage Chevelle's.
1974 Volkswagon Sun Bug- We were ready to move across the state in summer 1974 and were not sure the Chevelle was road worthy. We drove from Lubbock to Abilene and traded cars. We went to the Volkswagon dealership and looked around. Jack really liked a fire engine red Super Beetle with big tires. But I fell for the Sun Bug. It was metallic gold, had a sunroof, and the seats were upholstered in tan cordroy. It was a wonderful little car - had it during our stay in Alvin and when Jack went to work for the DPS in Austin.
1989 White Chrysler New Yorker-Cindy was a teenager and Jon a pre-teen when I got this car. It was white with a burgundy leather interior. It felt like driving a cadillac...and all Jon's friends thought it was a caddy just because it was big.
(NOTE: if you notice I'm describing how the cars looked. I know very little about what is under the hood.)
2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee-Okay, on this one I do know it is a 4x4, V8. We bought this vehicle about 3 years ago. It is white with tan leather interior. Oh...and it has seat warmers for both the driver and front seat passenger.
For right now, I'm still in the mode of wanting to drive my Jeep from now till forever. It runs great and looks good...one small flaw has developed on the armrest...two small rips in the leather. Hubby says it is still in warranty so hopefuly I can get that replaced. Then it will be just like new.
Future Cars - I think I'm past the sports car phase unless I got a "sit and lift" option to aide me.
(NOTE: I had thought of this invention for a year or two. Some baby boomers and others would like a sporty car but have some mobility problems. So what about a driver's seat that would rotate & lift? I did a google search over the weekend and lo and behold...someone else already came up with this. I believe it is an option right now on some Pontiacs.) There is honestly no other car that I'm lusting after at the moment...and that is a good thing!
