Mary's Musings

This is where I share a bit about my day to day life with family and friends. No deep thoughts here and minimal negativity, I guarantee!

Did I mention -

That I danced when I attended Art Unraveled in Phoenix? It was Sunday night at the awards dinner and everyone was having a great meal. Then a band, the husband and mates of one of the organizers, began to play a latin/jamaican style music. I don't know much about this music but seemed a cross between jazz and rock. Definitely foot-tapping, body-moving music.

I wanted to dance. I knew others did but all seemed content to sit and listen. Understand there were probably 150 women there and maybe 8 men. Angelica and I got up and went to look at some of the displays of student art that was situated around the room. While we browsed a few women started dancing. One was a lovely instructor who looked like an angel and danced like a gypsy. We later found out that her mother is a professional dancer. I asked Angelica if she'd like to join them and she sort of put it back on me...did I want to? I said 'sure' so we made it to the dance floor for the last few minutes of music. Out of all those in the room only 6 or 7 of us danced. When the song ended we (the dancers!) all laughed, hugged, and complimented one another on our collective beauty & grace. :-)

It just felt joyful to dance again (it has been a loooong time). Such a short adventure...so tame...yet thrilling. I know part of that exhiliration was just because I'd found the courage to get up and do it!
