Washington D.C.

Last week we went to Washington, D.C. Hubby had business there and I went along for moral support AND to see as much as I could that our nation's capitol has to offer. The week was wonderful overall with only a few glitches.

Glitch #1 - The hotel was okay but the carpet was grungy.
Glitch #2 - I caught a cab to the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery at 9:00. He dropped me off and THEN I saw the sign that the museum opens at 11:30.
Glitch #3 - Worst Cab Ride Ever! We were going to Union Station to go on the Monuments by Moonlight tour. A cab driver from India ushered us into his old blue station wagon cab and when Jack and I began talking he turned his music (sitar stuff) up very loud. Not only was it loud, but it was skipping and scratchy and just obnoxious.
Glitch #4 - Jack losing a tooth while eating a sandwich on the day he was lobbying with a group.

The best food of the trip was at Georgia Brown's - a delicious salad made of bib lettuce, dried cranberries, feta cheese, grilled chicken, and thinly sliced purple onions.

The best museum/gallery was the National Art Gallery.

Sight we most wanted to see that we didn't get to this trip was the Holocaust Museum.

Best tour was the Monuments by Moonlight tour which was on an Old Town Trolley.

Most surprising in a delightful way was Union Station. We are from podunk I guess but I had never seen an Amtrak station, huge hub for tours, and mall all under one roof.

A big regret was not discovering the cool and trendy neighborhood just around the corner from our hotel until the last night of our trip. We visited the Whole Foods Store there and discovered that while they do carry deodorants, they do NOT carry any antiperspirants.

Yes, we did take some photos. I'll try to post some of them.
